Literature Text

Long ago these deeds were done,

These that now are sung.

Long ago, o'er hills of stone

Wrought his castle a mighty lord.

Valiant he was and tall

And by this known to all.

Fire dwelt in his hair red,

Foes before him fled.

Many a victory he gained

Yet bitter he was and pained;

For an Oath he did take,

A vow none should break.

When at last fulfilled it was,

Vain it was made as

The Holy Jewel his hand bit.

The blood of his kin was spilt.

Torment untold the jewel brought

Thus, in fire leapt the lord

Taking with him the Gem Fair,

His greatest desire and despair.

Sing, o harp, of heroes all!

And of the lord so tall,

Who upon so high a hill

Made a vow none can fulfill.

A poem about Maedhros I wrote for an art trade on Tumblr. Or more a sketch for a poem about Maedhros.

It's good to see something new from you!  I like the poem; reading your work brings back memories of The Silmarillion.

How have you been?
